MASON MUSTANGS '66 CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY ![]()
A throng numbering upwards of 75 classmates celebrated their 40th year reunion in a style they are accustomed to with a gathering on July 16th, 2006 at Harmon's Pub & Brewery in downtown Tacoma. Principal Gil Nelson, band teacher Jack Lloyd, and journalism teacher Robert Cannell joined the festivities in what proved to be a most memorable afternoon.Pessimists didn't think last year's reunion could be topped but it did--in a big way. As momentum gained during the month of June, the reunion began to quickly take on a life of its own. As one classmate so aptly described the process, it was almost like a "Magical Mystery Tour". Maybe that is because so many of us have changed/aged that it WAS a mystery trying to figure out who was who. One of the more common phrases I heard was, "you're kidding, THAT's Dave Bean"? The reunion was replete with door prizes galore, a John Hickey rendition of gatoring (we all agreed it was most impressive, especially watching him get back up off the floor), free t-shirts, lots of hugs and kisses, and memories galore (see Memories section). A big thanks to official photographer and classmate Gabe Landry for providing the bulk of the photos (see 2006 Reunion Photos). What's next? Another reunion of course...back by popular demand and in an attempt to break the 100 mark we will try this one more time.....tentative theme is to resurrect TEEN TIME complete with a live band but without a gym to let people retreat into another comfort zone. Summertime will beckon us for this event and we are considering a Saturday evening affair to more aptly accommodate those with a traveling schedule. Thanks to everyone for making YOUR 40th reunion a very special day and please keep in touch.....
